Welcome to L'ABear Vie
We are situated in a small, friendly hamlet close to the village of St. Claud (3 minute drive) and town of Champagne Mouton in the Poitou Charente region of France.
The property caters for 2/4 people (La Maison D'Or) & sits within the grounds of our home and outbuildings totalling approximately one acre and offers a relaxing holiday retreat and base from which to explore the many delights of this region.
One interesting fact about the hamlet is that it was used in the making of the 2005 film "Zone Libre". A WW2 story based on true events, in which a french farmer helps a jewish family take refuge from the Nazis.
St. Claud offers all your daily requirements - bank for cash withdrawals, post office, restaurants (1 with cyber-cafe), local store, tabac, bakeries, hair salons, pharmacy, doctors, swimming pool etc. A larger supermarket is available in Chasseneuil, just a 10 minute drive away.
The property consists of a spacious 1 bedroom cottage that has just undergone complete refurbishment and offers the following:
- Fully fitted kitchen which includes oven, hob, microwave, fridge and a full range of utensils.
- Washing machine
- Bedroom with 2 double beds (bedding supplied)
- Travel cot (if required)
- Living room with dining table
- Heating for those wintery nights
- Television with english channels
- DVD player with selection of programs & films for all ages
- HiFi system with varied selection of music
- X-Box games console available
- Shower Room (large walk-in shower)
- Games for all the family
- There are also numerous books and magazines for your reading pleasure.
In the garden you will find:
- Table, chairs and Umbrella.
- Sun loungers.
- Barbecue.
- Outdoor games.
- Bikes are also available on request.
So whether you simply wish to get away from it all for a week or two, or you need a base for the longer term to allow you to find your own perfect property in the area, then L'ABear Vie will be the ideal place for your stay.
We hope this site gives you an idea of the property and its location, along with details of the Charente region and its many attractions. Finally we should boast of the fabulous weather which is renowned in this particular area of France; over 2400 hours of sunshine per year due to the micro-climate, second only to the Cote D'Azur!
